This Friday, November 26th, it was reported that RM<\/strong>, Jin<\/strong>, Suga<\/strong>, J-Hope<\/strong>, Jimin<\/strong>, V<\/strong>, and Jungkook<\/strong> requested postponement of mandatory military<\/strong> service. South Korean law says that all 28-year-olds must enlist, but BTS plans to extend<\/strong> that deadline until December 2022.<\/p>\n

According to the Koreaboo<\/strong> website, this information comes after reports emerged that the Korean National Assembly met to discuss a revision of the Military Service Law that would allow popular and cultural impact artists to replace their military service with voluntary<\/strong> work.<\/p>\n

BTS<\/strong> previously received permission to defer their enlistment<\/strong> until age 30 because they won the Hwagwan<\/strong> Award for the group’s efforts to spread the Korean language and culture around the world.<\/p>\n

This permission mainly benefits Jin, who is the oldest member of the group and will turn 30 in December 2022. If the postponement<\/strong> were not allowed, the artist would already have to enlist in the military next month.<\/p>\n
