Prince William prepares to sell part of the Duchy of Cornwall<\/h2>\n

Prince William<\/strong> is preparing an important transformation of the Duchy of Cornwal<\/strong>l, the large royal estate that provides income to the heir to the British throne. According to reports from The Times in the U.K., the Prince of Wales plans to sell around 20% of the estate over the next 10 years. This decision could raise nearly $670 million and help support housing developments, environmental programs, and renewable energy projects across England. The father of three took control of the Duchy in September 2022 after King Charles, his father, became monarch after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.<\/p>\n

The Duchy focuses on social and environmental projects<\/h2>\n

The Duchy of Cornwall was created in 1337 and is currently valued at more than $1.3 billion. It provides Prince William with a private annual income of nearly $31 million. But the upcoming plans are supposed to focus mainly on five areas, including Cornwall, Dartmoor, the Isles of Scilly, Bath, and parts of London. Duchy chief executive Will Bax said that the goal is to have the state give back to communities, instead of acting only as a traditional landowner.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we don\u2019t see an opportunity for positive impact, then perhaps we don\u2019t need to be a part of that place. But where there is social need and where there is environmental challenge and where there is an opportunity to enable change, then we\u2019ll be a great partner in working with people to achieve that,” he told The Times.<\/p>\n

Prince William says he wants to improve people\u2019s lives<\/h2>\n

Prince William recently talked about the project and said he wants to focus on making life better for people living in those communities. He explained that the Duchy has the chance to create a positive impact through affordable housing and sustainable projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re not the traditional landowner\u2026 we want to be more than that. There is so much good we can do. I’m trying to make sure I’m prioritising stuff that’s going to make people’s lives, living in those areas, better,” Prince William revealed, according to BBC.<\/p>\n

Later this week, the Prince of Wales is expected to visit Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to highlight local efforts connected to homelessness, community support, and eco-friendly housing.
