An adhan is an Islamic call to prayer recited at prescribed times of day<\/p>\n<p>Numerous Muslim netizens expressed their frustration at their religious practice being used for \u201c<em><strong>aesthetic purposes<\/strong><\/em>\u201d and are calling for Mnet to change the soundtrack and apologize for their actions.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\">\n        <blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I need yall on raising awareness on a very controversial topic about mnet&#39;s editing. <br \/>In Street Woman fighter Mnet decided to use Adhan as an intro [from 00:57 &#8211; 1:40]<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; 717 (@luotianguo) <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n        <\/figure>\n        \n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Many are upset at Mnet for cultural appropriation: the act of taking from another culture with little to no regard for cultural context. Fans expressed disapproval towards the editors for \u201c<strong>remixing<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>glitching<\/strong>\u201d adhan.<\/p>\n<p> <strong><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Netizens quickly found that the song used in the introduction sequence was not originally created by Mnet; it is a song titled \u201cAzan\u201d by the English band LOSERS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>Azan<\/strong>\u201d was released in 2010 in their album<strong> Beautiful Losers<\/strong>. New comments have been left underneath videos of the song on YouTube with people expressing their frustration towards the band.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the song\u2019s origin, Muslim audiences are demanding Mnet make a statement on their actions. This is not the first time <strong>Mnet<\/strong> or other<strong> K-Pop<\/strong> <strong>companies<\/strong> have been called out for their appropriation.
