Recent reports revealed that TXT’s Soobin took a taxi driver to justice after an attempted scam; he managed the situation and shared with fans to generate awareness about these incidents while traveling.
On April 1st, the K-Pop idol shared a new vlog during his visit to Cebu City in the Philippines, but while he was traveling in a taxi with a friend, the driver tried to scam him, and the moment was captured on video.
Before taking the taxi, Soobin checked a ride-hailing app and saw the estimated fare was approximately 300 Philippine pesos. Initially, the driver told him he would charge 500 Philippine pesos, and the idol agreed due to his fatigue.
Later, while they were already in the car, the driver tried to double the fare to 1000 Philippine pesos, arguing that fuel was expensive. The idol stood firm, remembering the advice of his member Taehyun, who told him to act upset in a similar situation.
Although they ultimately only paid the initially agreed fare of 500 Philippine pesos, the incident was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media, drawing the attention of transportation authorities in the Philippines, who took action.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show cause order against the operator of a taxi allegedly involved in an overcharging incident with K-pop star Soobin in Cebu City.
