A new trailer has been released for “Michael,” the upcoming biographical movie about pop icon Michael Jackson. The movie stars Jaafar Jackson, the real-life son of Michael’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, and young actor Juliano Valdi, who both play the artist at different stages of his life. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and follows Michael Jackson’s early years and rise to global stardom. Initially, pictures from the film set were first shared in February 2024, giving fans their first glimpse into Jaafar in costume and on stage.

The trailer shows Jaafar recreating his uncle’s famous dance moves and vocal performances that shaped his legendary career. The story highlights both his life away from the spotlight and key moments from his early work. According to the official description, the film focuses on how Michael Jackson developed into one of the most recognized entertainers in the world. Several important figures from his life also appear in the movie.

“Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before,” according to the synopsis. “This is where his story begins.”

The cast includes Colman Domingo as Joseph Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Kat Graham as Diana Ross, and Miles Teller as John Branca. Producer Graham King is also involved in the project after working on Freddie Mercury and Queen’s biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Joseph Jackson, who died in 2018, is portrayed as a complex and influential figure in Michael Jackson’s life. Meanwhile, the film will premiere in theaters on April 24.
