Netflix just dropped the finale trailer for “Stranger Things 5,” titled “The Rightside Up.” It is officially the eighth and final episode of the entire series. The last chapter arrives on December 31, 2025, on Netflix and in theaters. Season 5 has been rolling out during the holidays. The first four episodes premiered on Thanksgiving as Volume 1, and the next three arrived on Christmas Day as Volume 2.
Volume 2 ended with Max awake again after escaping Vecna with Holly. She reveals Vecna’s villain plan to merge the real world with a creepy zone beyond the Upside Down called the Abyss. The group teams up to enter the Abyss, rescue the kidnapped kids (including Holly), and end Vecna for good. While the antagonist is still in disguise as Henry Creel, he leads his brainwashed kidnapped children to use them and blow everything up.
The Duffer Brothers, who created the show nearly ten years ago, first launched the phenomenon in July 2016. Seasons 2 and 3 came in 2017 and 2019, while Season 4 arrived in two parts in May and July 2022. The final episode is expected to run for two hours and eight minutes, and it will be the first time the show goes big screen in more than 500 theaters across the United States and Canada. Screenings begin New Year’s Eve at 5 p.m. Pacific Time and run through January 1, 2026.
