SHINee’s Minho is currently promoting his new single, “TEMPO,” on different South Korean programs, including music circuits and YouTube shows. The idol has also kicked off the promotions of the era on this week’s installment of the YouTube series “ZIP Daesung.”

On December 20, Daesung and Minho discussed several topics related to the idol’s journey, including his early days in the Kpop scene. While discussing Minho’s numerous accolades each year at the “Idol Star Athletics Championship,” the idol confessed that idols nowadays are more open to talking in public and being themselves.

So, Daesung pointed out: “During your debut days, you weren’t really the talkative type.” Minho immediately reacted and explained that SM Entertainment told him not to talk because they wanted him to be a mysterious figure for the Kpop scene back in those days.

“See, the company.. I was told not to talk. We were supposed to maintain a ‘mysterious image’ back in those days. Once, on a radio broadcast, the host would ask me, ‘How was today’s broadcast?’. I almost didn’t say anything, because I was so conflicted between whether I should keep quiet or if I should answer the question. If I did answer, what was I supposed to say? I felt like I became a fool. And because I was still in high school at the time, I followed instructions to the letter. But in reality, I wanted to talk more. That was one of the most difficult things about my early debut days.”
