Queen Camilla Parker had a heartwarming meeting with people who have overcome homelessness on July 20 as Britain’s new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, made ending rough sleeping the first major pledge of his premiership.
The engagement in Norfolk coincided with the transfer of political power in London. One of the renewed focuses is all about tackling homelessness, so the visit became a major moment for the new reign.

Queen Camilla Parker visited Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness through accommodation, employment, and trauma recovery. The Queen, who has been the Patron of Emmaus for more than 20 years, explored the charity’s women’s centre in Ditchingham and spoke with its residents about their journeys in rebuilding their lives.
The initiative also comes after Burnham pledged £340 million to help at least 3,000 rough sleepers. This emotive initiative also connects with Prince William’s Homewards initiative to make homelessness rare, brief, and unrepeated. Congratulations to the British Crown on this heartwarming cause.
