But what’s got everyone talking isn’t just Prince William’s new facial hair! Followers are totally shook at how similar the beard is to his dad’s King Charles lll during his younger years. The impressive resemblance goes back to 1976 when then-Prince Charles sported a “naval beard.”

This style, popular in the Royal Navy, features a full beard and mustache, covering the jawline—a look the then-Prince adopted as a helicopter pilot with the 845 Naval Air Squadron. But guess what? This isn’t the first time the Prince of Wales has dabbled with facial hair. He previously sported a beard during Christmas 2008, but he has mostly stayed clean-shaven.

In contrast, Prince Harry has almost always shown his facial hair, despite controversies. The Duke of Sussex wrote it with his military uniform at his wedding, a move that required special permission from Queen Elizabeth II. According to Prince Harry, William started a “beard” war as he was not allowed to sport his own facial hair on previous occasions.
