Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s voices are heard in a rare moment at Wimbledon

The young royals were heard speaking behind-the-scenes with Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner

Royal fans had a rare glimpse of Prince George and Princess Charlotte‘s voices after the siblings were heard speaking during a behind-the-scenes meeting at Wimbledon. Following the men’s singles final on July 12, 2026, the royal children joined their parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, in congratulating Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner after he defeated Germany’s Alexander Zverev to claim the Wimbledon title. The rare interaction was shared in a video released by Wimbledon, giving the public a one-of-a-kind opportunity to hear Princess Charlotte and Prince George using their speaking voices.

During the conversation, Princess Kate Middleton told Sinner, “It’s really inspiring for the children, too, to see tennis at that level.” The tennis star then started a conversation with the royal siblings, asking Prince George if he played every day. “Not every day. Weekends.” Sinner then turned to Princess Charlotte, who smiled and answered, “Yeah, yeah,” when asked if she also played. Then, Prince William lightened the mood with a joke that made everyone laugh, prompting Sinner to say, “It has to make fun, you know?” The Princess of Wales agreed to that, encouraging her children to simply “Enjoy the game.”

Even though George and Charlotte have attended public events with their parents for years, hearing them speak is still a rare occurrence in the royal family. One of the few previous occasions came in 2020, when the siblings, along with their younger brother Prince Louis, appeared in a video asking broadcaster Sir David Attenborough questions about wildlife. Joining Sinner, British tennis player Arthur Fery also met the family and invited the young royals to join him for a tennis session, telling them, “I hear your children play tennis as well? If you guys want to hit some balls sometime, that would be great.”
