NCT 127 releases “Piñata” ahead of new “BLINGY” album

The boy group is beginning a new five-member era with an album scheduled for late August

NCT 127 has begun a new era in their careers as a five-member group with the release of the music video for “Piñata.” The KPop boy group released the song and an accompanying “track video” on August 11, 2026, ahead of their seventh studio album, “BLINGY.” The project is scheduled to be released on August 24, 2026. The album will contain nine songs and mark NCT 127’s first full-length project in two years, following the members’ solo projects and mandatory military service.

Released through SM Entertainment and Virgin Music Group, “Piñata” blends several musical elements that have become central to NCT 127’s experimental sound. The track includes heavy rock guitars, a funky bass line, breakbeat percussion, and hip-hop elements. The music video takes place during a late-night outing in Seoul and presents the members as streetwise fixers moving through the city. NCTzens (that is their fandom’s name) will also have a chance to enjoy new songs from the upcoming album when NCT 127 headlines KCON LA on August 14, 2026.

The group will continue their comeback promotions with the “NCT 127 7th Album [BLINGY] Comeback Live Party” on August 25, 2026. During that event, the members are expected to perform songs from the full-length project and share stories about how the songs were created. “BLINGY” also marks a temporary five-member era for Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Jaehyun, and Haechan. This change comes due to Doyoung and Jungwoo currently completing military service, while other former members have left the group in recent years. Former member Taeil was removed from the group in 2024 due to sexual abuse; Mark left in April 2026 and established his own label; and Winwin exited the group and the company in 2025.
