KPop Demon Hunters’ EJAE performs at the FIFA World Cup alongside Andrea Bocceli

The singer behind a hit from KPop Demon Hunters will represent South Korea on football's biggest stage

KPop Demon Hunters’ EJAE just had a massive moment on the global stage after performing one of the official anthems of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The singer and songwriter took the stage at t the tournament’s opening ceremony on June 12, 2026, in Mexico City, performing “DNA” before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa at Estadio Azteca. The song features an international lineup of diverse artists, including Andrea Bocelli, David Guetta, and Megan Thee Stallion. For the live rendition of the song at the event, both Andrea Bocelli and EJAE were in charge of singing the song.

EJAE has recently gained global attention for her work on Netflix’s animated film KPop Demon Hunters. She contributed to the movie’s soundtrack and helped create the hit song “Golden,” which became popular and turned into a global hit in 2025. The artist is also known for being the singing voice of Rumi, the main character in the film.

“It’s especially meaningful because I was able to write the Korean lyrics for the song. Representing South Korea on this stage is such an honor,” EJAE said of the opportunity.

Meanwhile, FIFA released “DNA” on June 11, 2026, one day before the start of the soccer tournament. This year, the FIFA World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It is the first World Cup to feature 48 national teams and will continue until July 19, 2026.
