IU personally apologizes to her fans amid criticism for ‘Perfect Crown’

IU takes responsibility for the controversies surrounding her new K-Drama

During a recent event to celebrate her birthday, IU personally apologizes to her fans amid criticism for ‘Perfect Crown‘ over acting and historical accuracy.

On May 16th, the K-Pop idol celebrated her special day with fans at the CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall cinema in Seoul, where they enjoyed the broadcast of the final episode of her most recent series, which she stars in alongside Byeon Woo-seok.

However, the event turned emotional when, after the broadcast, she shared her reflections on current activities, revealing that despite her work in this drama and her preparations for a new album, “Lately I’ve been thinking even more that I need to do better and carry myself with greater responsibility.”

While shedding some tears, IU responded to the criticism that hit the production because the stars became embroiled in acting controversy and criticisms for historical distortions in the story.

“Should do at least a little better for all of you, and if I disappointed you or showed an inadequate side of myself, that’s entirely my fault.”

When fans from the crowd comforted her by shouting that it was not her fault, she said, “No, it is true. I will genuinely take responsibility and continue to improve. I want to become someone my fans can be proud of.”

The idol concluded by asking fans to continue giving advice and sharing her love and being grateful for their support and finally bowed deeply and respectfully to the crowd:

“I should have said this earlier, but I love you all. I want to show you a better side of me, but I’m sorry that I keep falling short. Still, thank you for continuing to give me chances and looking at me with affection. I will truly work even harder and do better.”
