IU never ceases to amaze the fans with her big contributions, not only to the Kpop scene but to the vulnerable communities. The idol has shared a special act at year’s end by donating to support those in need.
On December 31, EDAM Entertainment, IU’s music agency, made official IU’s donation of $140,000 under the name “IUaeNa,” to mark the end of the year. The name comes from a portmanteau of IU’s name and her fan club Uaena.
“IU donated a total of 200 million KRW under the name ‘IUaeNa’ (IU + Uaena) to mark the end of the year. The donation will be used to support various underprivileged groups, including single mothers, young adults preparing for independence, people with disabilities, and the elderly.”
This is not the first time that IU has practiced philanthropy under the name “IUaeNa.” The idol has impacted communities positively with her donations on different occasions, including her debut anniversary, birthday, and year-end holidays. The idol’s donations have improved firefighters’ working conditions, children, adolescents, and vulnerable communities across South Korea.
