California Governor Gavin Newsom officially declared February 8, 2026, as Bad Bunny Day across the Golden Bear State. The announcement was made ahead of the reggaeton and salsa singer’s halftime performance at Super Bowl LX, which will take place in Santa Clara. Newsom shared the declaration on social media and publicly expressed his support for Bad Bunny and his upcoming performance at the event.
Bad Bunny is scheduled to perform the halftime show at Levi’s Stadium on February 8, 2026. His performance is presumed to be presented entirely in Spanish, making it one of the most visible Spanish-language halftime shows in the history of the Super Bowl, following Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s in 2020. The singer, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is originally from Puerto Rico and has become one of the most influential global artists in recent years.
The announcement follows major milestones in his career. Bad Bunny won Album of the Year at the 2026 Grammy Awards for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” becoming the first artist to receive the award for a Spanish-language album. He was also awarded for Best Global Musical Performance for “EoO” and Best Música Urbana Album for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” Earlier in the week, he spoke about his goals for the halftime show and said he wanted the public to simply enjoy the experience. Meanwhile, the Super Bowl halftime show continues to be sponsored by Apple Music, in partnership with the NFL and Roc Nation.
