Danielle’s legal team has challenged ADOR’s claims about NewJeans’ potential return, asking the agency to provide documents showing whether it actually had specific plans to resume the girl group’s activities. The request was made during the fifth hearing in ADOR’s damages lawsuit against Danielle, her mom, and former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin at the Seoul Central District Court on September 10, 2026.
“The plaintiff has repeatedly stated that it would provide sufficient support for the NewJeans members to resume their activities, but no substantial activities have taken place to date,” Danielle’s side said.
The artist’s side argued that ADOR had repeatedly said it would provide the necessary support for the members to return, but claimed that no visible NewJeans activities had taken place. Her lawyers said internal activity plans and proposals could help establish whether ADOR had both the intention and ability to restore NewJeans’ musical releases and promotions. They also argued that ADOR’s internal plans for the group are necessary, as the company’s calculation of potential damages was based on income NewJeans could have generated during hiatus.
“Given that a lawsuit of this scale has been filed against Danielle, we need to verify what activities were actually planned,” the legal team for the artist argued.
ADOR responded that plans for NewJeans are matters that will be announced publicly and argued that the documents did not need to be provided in advance. The court decided to first determine whether existing documents could address the issues raised by Danielle’s side before considering an additional submission order. The dispute follows the members’ November 28, 2024 announcement that they would terminate their contracts with ADOR. The court later ruled on October 30, 2025, that the contracts remained valid. Members Haerin, Hyein, and Hanni returned to the company, while Minji is reportedly in talks to come back. ADOR subsequently terminated Danielle’s contract and filed a damages lawsuit against her, her mom, and Min Hee Jin.
