YG Entertainment formed BIGBANG in 2006, a K-Pop group that marked an era in Korean music. After 16 years, is the split looming? On December 26, the contract status of members Daesung and Taeyang was updated.
Although Daesung completely withdraws from the agency and Taeyang moves to a subsidiary, there might still be hope for a group comeback of the idol performers of “Fantastic baby” in the future.
After celebrating Christmas, it was announced that Taeyang had decided to sign for THEBLACKLABEL, a label under YG Entertainement, but with independence in music decisions.
“After working together as producers and artists, Teddy and Taeyang are betting on a new beginning at THEBLACKLABEL, based on mutual musical trust. THEBLACKLABEL will fully support Taeyang to actively showcase his artistic projects“, the agency said.

Later, the company announced Daesung’s decision, who chose not to renew with YG and is “looking for a fresh start” elsewhere. It added, “The fact that Daesung is a member of BIGBANG has not changed. We support his choice and are willing to cooperate with him“.
An announcement remains to be made about the contract of G-Dragon, who is currently in negotiations with YG. However, the Korean press speculates that he will renew, but there are no official statements yet.
