Pop star Chappell Roan sparked controversy during her concert at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on October 11, 2025. Halfway through her performance, the “Pink Pony Club” singer paused to share her love for Los Angeles, her home for the past nine years, and expressed admiration for how communities came together after recent wildfires. Her heartfelt speech ended with a political statement: “F*** ICE forever.” The crowd cheered and chanted along with her words.
Following the singer’s statement, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security responded quickly. Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for public affairs, told TMZ that ICE targets criminals and told the singer to “get a grip.” Her remarks arrived during an especially tense time. Many immigrant communities have described recent ICE raids as “military-style,” and political leaders, including Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, have criticized their operation.
Chappell’s Roan comment added fuel to the debate surrounding immigration policies and ICE’s role in this situation. However, the pop star has never been silent regarding political issues. Back in 2024, Chappell posted a video to social media explaining that she wasn’t voting for Trump but that she was also not endorsing the Harris-Biden campaign.
