The singer talks about support, surprises, and a bond built through music.

Becky G recently spoke about her friendship with BTS member J-Hope during an appearance on the YouTube channel MMTG. On April 2, 2026, the show released a new episode featuring the singer and rapper during her first visit to Korea. Host Jaejae mentioned Becky G’s connection to BTS and asked if her visit was connected to J-Hope. Becky G responded that it was and expressed her excitement about being in the country.

In addition, she revealed that she attended BTS’s Gwanghwamun performance after receiving an invitation from J-Hope himself, proving that their friendship goes beyond their musical collaborations. During the conversation, the “Mayores” singer also looked back on their memorable performance together at Lollapalooza. Jaejae brought up the event by recalling that J-Hope had previously spoken about his solo appearance at the festival. Then the American-Mexican singer explained that she had planned a surprise for fans. Initially, she tried to mislead fans by posting a photo that appeared to be from home. However, she then appeared on stage, surprising fans who thought she would not make an appearance.

“At the Lollapalooza performance, what I did to trick everybody – because everybody thought that Becky’s going to be there –  I had my sister send a picture of me watching the show from home. And I posted it during his set. So that no one would know. So everyone thought ‘She’s home.’ Then I showed up.”

Becky G also shared a more personal detail about their friendship. She said she once invited J-Hope to a carne asada, a traditional Mexican barbecue gathering usually shared with close friends and family. However, he could not attend because of his military service, but Becky G said he is always welcome. The pair first collaborated on one of J-Hope’s most iconic solo tracks, “Chicken Noodle Soup.” The track was released on September 27, 2019, and it is a reimagining of the 2006 Webstar and Young B song of the same name, featuring Korean, Spanish, and English lyrics.
