Can you believe it’s been eight whole years since BLACKPINK dropped the bop “As If It’s Your Last” on June 22, 2017? This dancefloor anthem marked a major moment in the group’s rise, showcasing their brighter and playful “Pink” side following their previous songs. With a mix of disco-pop, dance, and moombahton, it’s become a fan favorite, and today, we’re celebrating its anniversary.

To celebrate the song’s anniversary, here are five fun (and fabulous) facts that every Blink should know:

  1. It was almost a 2NE1 song
Yes, the original demo was meant for BLACKPINK’s YG labelmates 2NE1, with the working title “Blame It on Your Love.” It was considered for their 2014 album “Crush,” but was ultimately shelved. Lucky for us, it found new life with BLACKPINK three years later.

  2. It’s BLACKPINK’s first full “Pink” concept
According to member Jisoo, this song was a shift from their previous “Black” concept. “As If It’s Your Last” showed a softer, more romantic side of the group, with a bubbly choreography and bubblegum visuals that totally matched the upbeat vibe.

  3. It was their only single for almost a year
YG teased the release just days before it dropped, framing it as a special treat for fans while the group prepped Square Three (which later became Square Up). Little did Blinks know that Square Up would come about a year after, dropping on June 15, 2018, so “As If It’s Your Last” was the only thing they could latch on to.

  4. It made a cameo in Justice League
Blink and you’ll miss it, literally. The song is playing in Barry Allen’s apartment (The Flash) during a scene in the 2017 DCEU film Justice League. A K-pop crossover moment we didn’t see coming!

  5. It’s been all over TV, including Disney
Not only was it the theme for BLACKPINK’s own reality show Blackpink House, but it also popped up in Disney Channel’s Amphibia in the episode “All In” (May 7, 2022).
