As BTS’ V steps back into the spotlight after completing his military service on June 10, 2025, fans are not only celebrating his return but also honoring a loss he grieved while in duty. In December 2024, still enlisted, V revealed that his beloved dog Yeontan had passed away, news that hit ARMY right in the heart!
Yeontan, a black and tan Pomeranian, wasn’t just a pet; he was V’s constant companion and an honorary BTS mascot. Initially introduced to fans during Jin’s 2017 birthday broadcast, Yeontan became a visual king, appearing in vlogs, social media posts, and even V’s solo debut visuals. He was the inspiration behind the “Layover” album artwork and had a cameo in the “Winter Bear” music video. This adorable pet also made his “debut stage” (as fans call it) with V himself, joining him in for performance of “Slow Dancing.”

His passing was announced through a touching Instagram story, where V wrote, “Yeontan has embarked on a long journey to the dog stars. I hope you remember him and wish for his happiness even in the stars.” V’s grief might’ve been amplified by the fact that he couldn’t be by Yeontan’s side due to his enlistment. Unfortunately, the Pomeranian had faced health issues for years, including two unsuccessful heart surgeries, which V shared during a 2023 Pixid interview. Even as V greeted fans with gratitude and promises of new performances post-discharge, the loss of Yeontan might have left a quiet shadow.
