Back in 2019, BTS’ V casually dropped a name during a Rolling Stone interview that made fans think twice: Conan Gray. V called him one of his inspirations, and just like that, a cross-continental collab dream was born. Fast-forward to today, and fans are still begging for it, because Conan is so down.
Conan Gray posted on his Instagram story after Taehyung mentioned him as his musical inspiration during the Rolling Stone interview. He was really surprised, this is cute. Waiting for #TaehyungxConan !#BTSV #V #방탄소년단뷔 #뷔 #Taehyung@BTS_twt @conangray pic.twitter.com/XaPAUvuB8c

When V’s shoutout hit, Conan Gray was super stocked. He took to Instagram to gush about how much he adores V and said he’d love to work with him. His promise? If they ever collab, he’ll write “the saddest song ever.” And if you know Conan’s discography, that means grab the tissues!

Sadly for those who would love it, the collab hasn’t happened. Currently, V is serving his country in the military, slated for a June 10, 2025, discharge (along with bandmember RM). He released his debut album “Layover” (without any featured artists). Meanwhile, Conan Gray recently dropped “This Song,” and his upcoming fourth album is scheduled for August 15, 2025.
But with BTS’ military hiatus nearing its end, it feels like the stars could finally align. As mentioned previously, most members (including V) will be back by June. In the meantime, the Conan Gray x V supporters are crossing their fingers. Universe, do your thing!
