BTS has been on pause for nearly three years thanks to South Korea’s mandatory military enlistment. Jin and J-Hope are already out, and the rest of the crew is weeks away from reuniting. But on May 23, ARMY’s excitement was momentarily popped when Qatar revealed it almost hosted BTS—but couldn’t, because Jungkook was still serving. Talk about a missed opportunity!

At the 5th Qatar Economic Forum, Tourism Authority Chairman Saad bin Ali Al Kharji confirmed they had big plans for a BTS performance in Doha. But when they reached out to the group, their main vocalist was already on duty. Fans immediately lit up social media, grieving the missed occasion, especially since this is Jungkook’s second major global gig missed due to service. Reportedly, he also declined the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show with Usher.
Despite what some fans call a “missed chance,” the BTS boys will soon be back. And the best part? Qatar might just be ready to hit that invite button again. Now that the wait is almost over with the members being discharged (RM and V are out June 10, Jungkook and Jimin follow on June 11 and SUGA will be ready by June 21), the reunion clock just started ticking. And guess what? ARMY is ready.
