Almost nine years after Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, the trial’s closing moments are dripping in drama. On May 23, the jury began deliberations after Aomar Aït Khedache—aka “Old Omar”—offered a handwritten apology to Kim, saying he couldn’t find words strong enough to express how sorry he is. At 72, partially deaf and barely able to speak, he pleaded for mercy in court, offering “a thousand apologies” to the entrepreneur and reality TV star.

Aït Khedache is one of ten accused in the infamous 2016 robbery that shook the Kardashians. Kim lost around $10 million in jewelry, including her $4 million engagement ring from Kanye West. The robbery happened at the No Address Hotel, where masked men tied her up in her room. Kim testified she was certain she would die that night—a trauma that still haunts her.

The prosecution isn’t letting age soften their stance. They’re pushing for a 10-year sentence for both Aït Khedache and another elderly defendant, Yunice Abbas, who even wrote a book titled “I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian” while in custody. They argue the men are downplaying the violence of the crime, despite clear evidence linking them to the scene.
With the verdict coming soon, the courtroom seems to be packed with drama. One female defendant, Cathy Glotin, insists she was just a bystander and “Old Omar’s” mistress. The rest? Mostly dubbed the “Grandpa Robbers” due to their age, they’re looking at varying sentences. But for Kim, this isn’t just about jewels, it’s about justice for a night that changed her life forever.
