King Charles III is slowly resuming his royal duties after almost disappearing from the Royal scene due to his cancer treatment. The king has embarked on short but substantial trips overseas, and this time Canada is the chosen one.
The Prime Minister, Mark Caney, has stated that King Charles III will be visiting Canada, and his visit is a meaningful gesture that reflects the gravity of the current moment, underscoring Canada’s sovereignty.
Governor General Mary Simon also addressed Caney’s statement and confirmed that the royal visit will take place at the end of May 2025. In addition, Queen Camilla Parker will also visit the country.
The royal visit to Canada will be the first time a monarch has delivered the throne speech since 1977. Each new session of Parliament begins with a throne speech outlining the government’s priorities and plans. So, King Charles III’s visit will be a meaningful moment for all the Canadian people.
