Iconic boy bands such as BTS, NYSNC, One Direction, and Backstreet Boys recently shone bright at the American Music Awards’ 50th-anniversary celebration. The event took place on October 6, 2024, and the “Boy with Luv” hitmakers were honored as one of the boy bands that changed the global music scene. This shout-out highlighted BTS’s undeniable impact on bringing K-pop to the mainstream.

During the award show, a video tribute was paid to all the iconic groups, from Boyz ll Men and New Kids on the Block to BTS. And guess what? The K-pop idols aren’t just getting a shout-out, they’re also the most-awarded group in AMA history, making this another gem in their crown. To put the cherry on top of this iconic celebration, Stray Kids slayed with a performance that paid tribute to NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye,” mixed with their own single “Chk Chk Boom.”

With all members but Jin currently serving in the military, this recognition at the AMA’s highlights the group’s legendary status even while they’re on pause. The world better watch out because BTS will be back should be back in full force by 2025, with most members completing their military service by then.
