Netflix, one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms, has become a hotspot for a wide number of Korean series and K-dramas, fortunately for millions of enthusiasts for this content across the world. Having the chance to watch these shows is truly a treat. However, Netflix is now under fire because South Korea is allegedly trying to censor a popular K-drama due to its bold scenes.
In spite of its popularity in media and technological advancements, South Korea is s known for its conservative culture. This characteristic is partly reflected in both its citizens and its media, whether we are talking about series or movies. It appears to be that there are still some societal views or reservations regarding showing bold scenes with extended kisses or sensual touches.
This time, the K-Drama that is currently under scrutiny is “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” which might be censored on Netflix because a specific episode caught the attention of the conservative sector in the South Korean society for all the wrong reasons.
The series are nothing too wild compared to a regular K-Drama. The plot revolves around Moon Gang-tae and Ko Moon-young, who gradually start a relationship while trying to support one of the protagonist’s brothers.
However, it looks like the breaking point was the episode when these two characters decide to get intimate. The scenes depicting this moment left little to the imagination, which is odd for K-Dramas, as they tend to be prudent and romantic with interactions between love interests.
Only time will tell if the conservative viewers will win and ultimately get a say on the destiny of the series.
