Dispatch is a very popular South Korean gossip newsletter which is mostly known for having a gross tradition for the new year’s that nobody approves but everybody awaits. It’s also known as the equivalent of TMZ for South Korean entertainment.
Every 31st of December, around midnight, Dispatch posts an article revealing a couple of A list celebrities that have been dating in secret during the last year. In the past, BLACKPINK member Jennie was revealed to be dating EXO’s Kai, and the scandal that came from that reveal was legendary among the Kpop followers.
This year’s couple is probably one of the most unexpected ones, it involves one of the most widely loved idols in the country: the “LILAC” singer, IU, who is dating the popular actor Lee Jong Suk.
The age difference between them is just 4 years, IU is 29 and Jong Suk is 33, so there is no scandal there, as there was with Twice’s Momo and Super Junior’s Heechul couple reveal, which was highly controversial due to their age difference of 13 years.
The proof provided by Dispatch to prove IU and Lee Jong Suk’s relationship are some pictures of IU and her younger brother being escorted by Lee Jong Suk’s pick up service in a recent trip, proving that they have had contact. The new couple had a trip for the holidays this year, and brought IU’s younger brother with them. As reported, they made extra efforts to keep their relationship in secret, such as traveling to different cities and then meeting in the middle.
Lee Jong Suk took a flight to Osaka, Japan on the 20th of December, while IU took a flight to Nagoya on the 24th of December, to avoid lifting any suspicions. Once both of them were in Japan, they met at a luxury hotel personally booked by Lee Jong Suk.
Not only did he book the hotel by himself, but he also bought his flight ticket and did not tell anybody in his company about the trip. His company has already released a statement clarifying that they did not know about the matter and will look into it.
Dispatch reported that the families of both stars already have been noticed of the relationship and they supposedly approve, as proof, they stated that IU was the singer of the congratulatory song at Lee Jong Suk’s younger brother’s wedding, and also Lee Jong Suk invited IU’s younger brother to the Japan trip, as mentioned earlier.
