The Kpop is an ever changing industry, it started out as a genre of happy melancholic rhythms with lyrics about love and excitement, now, it has evolved into a genre where women show their power, and male artist prove to be fearless but vulnerable.
Sometimes, not so often, new groups appear in the Kpop scene with the intention of becoming trailblazers, to leave a mark that leads new generations to a different path and change the panorama, such as ITZY and NCT when they debuted with new ideas to add to the mix.
That is also the case of EPEX, a relatively new group, debuted no longer than a year ago, and that has taken the genre by surprise with their elegant, but youthful and aggressive concept.
The members have been able deliver every song with as much proficiency as the production requires, with choreography that connects with the song in the most unexpected ways.
Identified with electropop rhythms and low synth bass in the choruses, most of the songs have a dystopic atmosphere, giving the illusion that something mysterious is happening around.
Another point in their favor is that, until now, they haven’t overused the astral sounds or cliches of the genre, making EPEX a group with well received commercial proposes but that are also quite well thought out.
Here on Music Mundial, we present EPEX, and some of their best music videos:
Let’s start with their most recent video, “사랑歌” , or “Love Song” by its translation, which has a juvenile atmosphere, with joyful choreo and lyrics about the first love and all the emotions that it can bring.
Let’s continue the list with “Lock Down”, a song and video released in 2021 that was actually very well contextualized. It was released in the midst of a pandemic, and it focuses enclosed spaces and shows little images in open spaces, just as the 2020-2021 lock down, matter of fact, in the lyrics you will find a COVID-19 reference.
Let’s continue the list with “Do 4 Me”, one of their rather different tracks, as it shows a vulnerable, dubious, and troubled story in the lyrics, while they show off as playful and joyful in the music video and the choreography.
We hope their music is of your liking as much as it was for us.
