Michael J. Fox receives honorary Academy Award for his humanitarian contributions
For this, actor Michael J. Fox was awarded the Jean Hersholt Award, an Oscar given to a person in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry.
It was on this magical night, that the interpreter of ‘Marty Mcfly’ in the famous film ‘Back to the Future’ was called to the stage to be awarded for his more than one billion dollars raised with his foundation for the research of Pariknson’s disease, which the actor suffers from since 1991.
After being awarded, Michael took the podium amidst applause, where he gave an emotional speech, which also made the audience laugh, as he began with a funny joke about his convalescence: “Guys, stop, you’re making me shake”.
The Canadian expressed the pride he felt upon receiving this award, and thanked all his family for accompanying him in all his projects:
“This is a totally unexpected honor and I’m really grateful. I have been surprised that everything I have been given, the success with my wife Tracy, my family, has prepared me for this profound opportunity and responsibility.
It’s been a gift.”
