Angelina Jolie is sad because the new Marvel movie “Eternals“, where she plays Thena, was banned in several countries, due to a relationship between people of the same sex, so the public in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar does not you will see it.
“How someone is angry about it, threatened by it, does not approve of it or appreciate it is ignorant“, Jolie told Australian news outlet news.com.au during an interview.
“And I’m proud of Marvel for refusing to remove those scenes” she said.
“I still don’t understand how we live today in a world where there are still [people who] wouldn’t see the family that Phastos has and the beauty of that relationship and that love“

In “Ethernals”, the character of Phastos, who is played by Brian Tyree Henry, is married to Ben, played by Haaz Sleiman. The couple share Marvel’s first ever on-screen homosexual kiss.
During an interview with Variety, Sleiman called the film a “lifesaver” and said that he would have liked to have seen a movie like “Eternals” when he was a child.
“I wish I had that when he was a kid to see this. My God. Wish! Can you imagine how many lives this is going to save: children, queer youth, who are being bullied, commit suicide and are not represented?
And now you can see this, it’s above and beyond“, Sleiman said.
Deadline reports that even though “Eternals” is banned in several Gulf nations, it will still be available in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt, however, with the exception that this version, allowed in those countries, it will eliminate scenes that show intimacy between characters, as well as heterosexual and homosexual relationships.
