“Permission to Dance” is a marriage proposal to the ARMY?

During the conversation, Nicole Kim commented on the reaction of BTS when they first heard the single that is part of their ‘Butter CD Single’. According to BIGHIT Music’s A&R team leader, the band wanted to give people “good vibes, like positive energy and hope.”

The A&R team got down to business and contacted songwriters from all over the world to create a song that would convey the message that BTS was looking for so much, so they found Ed Sheeran, who had already worked with the boys and understood what they liked and persecuted. At first, the lyrics were not what we currently know:

BTS liked the track as it was, but the original lyrics were more like a marriage proposal, more personal, like a love song, so the group asked for the lyrics to be changed, “said Nicole Kim.

Ed Sheeran said that in the original version it was sung by only one person, so they made a couple of modifications so that the seven members of BTS could sing it. For his part, Kim mentioned that recording a single in English was a new task because when the band records in Korean they just need them to sing well.

“With songs in English, they also need to be aware of their pronunciation while recording, so there were a lot of changes and edits even after the whole song recording was finished,” he added.

Permission to Dance ”has it all in its lyrics: a dose of positive energy and hope, however, the songwriters and BTS worked for 8 months so that, in three minutes and seven seconds, they would shape a marriage proposal, and make it not only a song of the summer, but also a hymn of joy in times where uncertainty reigns.

After a long work remotely, and a couple of modifications, the band managed that the lyrics of their song had an even more important purpose during these inevitable changes that are experienced at the moment, that is, that the songs reflect what they are. people experiencing during the pandemic.

The BTS members saw “Permission to Dance” as a kind of song that they had to do at this time and that can be seen in their intentional message that can be seen in the line of the song: “We don’t have to worry because when we fall we know how to land ”, as Suga said in an interview.
