Aespa‘s “Next Level” dance practice video is criticized for its alleged sexualization of office workers.

As a way of thanking fans for the 100 million views on their “Next Level” music video, aespa released the ‘company version‘ of their choreography practice. On June 24, the practice video became a hot topic on online community sites under the title, “Is Aespa’s ‘Next Level’ Dance Practice ‘Company Version’ of Sex Marketing from dance practice?

They say that dancing in exposed occupational garb, such as with nurses and soldiers, is a professional commercialization of sex. In their office looks in the ‘company version’ of aespa, they dance in short blouses, but office workers rarely dress well.

More than a month after its release, “Next Level” reached No.

1 on the 24Hits chart of Korea’s largest music streaming service Melon at 8 p.m. KST on June 21. The 24Hits table is calculated based on the number of unique users during the last 24 hours. As of June 22 at 11 a.m. M. KST, “Next Level” is still at the top of the chart.

Now Aespa is now the first girl group to reach No. 1 on the 24Hits chart with a song that was released after the changes to Melon’s chart system in July 2020.
