Two of Kpop’s biggest gaming fans finally teamed up, and fans around the world are loving it. This November 5, BTS’ Jin shared three photos on Instagram with the caption “Went to an escape room with Beomgyu.” Adding “idol” after the name of his Big Hit Music junior made fans laugh, and the post quickly spread.

The photos were taken at a MapleStory themed escape room. Jin and Beomgyu visited the Ludibrium theme at “MapleStory Escape,” an escape room cafe that Nexon runs in Seoul’s Hongdae area, a really cute date. They went on November 4, sat side by side and struck cute poses. In the photos, both flash V signs in front of the escape room’s result screen.

Jin also posted a shot with the game’s director and one in an outdoor area decorated with MapleStory characters.


The meetup makes sense once you know their history with the game. Jin has been a well known MapleStory player since fifth grade, and Korean media have dubbed him a “Mejin nam,” a man who is earnest about MapleStory.

In 2022, he starred in a web show where he joined Nexon as a one day intern. He also took part in planning the MapleStory 23rd anniversary event and items.


Beomgyu is just as devoted. He has said he hardly plays any other game and often plays MapleStory with Jin. On his days off, he goes to Jin’s home so they can play together. That helps explain why the outing felt so natural.

For fans, the pairing was a pleasant surprise. Korean media described it as a warm moment between a senior and a junior who share the same hobby. For now, there is no word on a rematch, but ARMYs and MOAs will surely be hoping this isn’t the last time the two team up.
